Atlanta Hawks

Bruce Levenson is most known for buying the Atlanta Hawks. At the time, a lot of people thought he was crazy. The team had little talent at the time, and the fans did not enjoy going to the games. This is why the team was losing so much money on a regular basis. Over the long term, he invested in better players and a better fan experience. These investments paid off quickly, and now the Atlanta Hawks are competitive again. The work of Bruce Levenson is something to marvel at.

According to, one of the most important parts of running a pro sports team is the finances. A lot of teams do not make as much money as they should, and this limits the amount of money they are able to invest back in the team. Bruce Levenson knew that when he took over the Atlanta Hawks he would have to get better players. Anyone who has ever tried to turn around a team knows how difficult it can be.

Kyle Bass – Genius or Desperate Investor?

These days it seems as though Kyle Bass is making the news for all the wrong reasons. Back in 2008 he became a household name as he was credited with accurately predicted the subprime mortgage crisis. Since then however it seems as though things have been all down hill for Bass.

Let’s start with his relationship with Argentinian despot Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. While most would agree she is the worst thing to ever happen to that country’s economy, Bass just can’t seem to get enough of her.

He is constantly singing her praises and defending her when there is no defense for the things she has done to the Argentinian economy.

But that’s not all that brings the character of Bass into question. When news surfaced that several GM vehicles involved in fatal accidents had faulty power steering and airbags that didn’t deploy, Bass actually blamed it on the victims.

Why would a guy like Bass do such a heartless thing you ask? All because he wanted to make good on his investment in the company. What a disgusting and despicable thing to do.

But wait, it gets even worse. Bass is also the guy who came up with a ploy so vile, the government had to step in to try and stop him.

The ploy was very simple yet had the potential to negatively impact the lives of millions.

Bass and Erich Spangenberg, the guy known as the most notorious patent troll in the world, teamed up to create the Coalition for Affordable Drugs.

Together they would pick out pharmaceutical firms, short sell the stocks, and then turn around and challenge at least one of the patents through the company they set up.

When this happened stocks would go down and Bass would make millions of dollars in the process. In the meantime pharmaceutical prices go up and millions of people who once relied on those drugs can no longer afford them.

When Bass was called out on this, he said he was trying to bust patents and drive drug prices down.
