Meet and Learn Him: Dr. Mark Holterman

Dr. Mark Holterman, MD, Ph.D. is a doctor with 29 years of experience. He has two locations in the state of Illinois, the main one is located in Maywood, IL, and the second office in Peoria, IL. Dr. Holterman earned his degrees from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Medicine and Immunology from 1980-1988 and his Bachelor of Arts from 1976 to 1980 from Yale University in General Biology. He intended to become a pediatrician until he met his wife Ai-Xuan Le. Her passion for surgery and his passion for pediatrics inspired each other so much that he became a surgeon and a pediatrician and she became a general and pediatric surgeon. He has two certifications in Pediatric surgery and general surgery but it is not all that he is known for. He frequently does lots of medical research in areas such as cancer treatment, stem cell therapy, and obesity research.

Dr. Holterman has won 4 awards, including the America’s Top Doctor 8 times since 2008, the Patient’s Choice Award 3 times since 2012, back to back winner of the On-Time Doctor Award in 2014 and 2015 and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award 3 times since 2012. He is the creator of the extremely popular and noteworthy Mariam Global Health Fund, a global and business management firm that focuses on impactful creators and their business ventures.

Dr. Holterman continues to finance, offer support and help develop multiple distinctive and advanced medical and healthcare treatments as well as technology. He also has history working with Loyola University Medical Center, St Alexus Medical Center and the University of Illinois Hospital (MarkHolterman.WordPress). He was a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago developing simple and translational research programs from July 1997 to December 2010. He supports health-related charities such as the International Pediatric Specialists Alliance for the Children of Vietnam. Dr. Holterman speaks multiple languages including English and Spanish. He was raised in Wisconsin.
